California proceeding to curb liability for escaped fires.
The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting on Governor Jerry Brown’s “detailed proposal” to curb liability for California electric utilities when wildfires burn out of control. As covered in our previous post, as wildfires increase in the West, attempts to re-assign liability are likely to increase. I continue to suspect that Nevada will peak over its neighbor’s shoulder for potential answers to its own wildfire and liability questions both in the future, and as it tries to resolve the Little Valley Fire matter.
