Project NEON is now fully operational, and today is the official finale.

At long last, the freeway in Las Vegas is fixed! I think. Something like that at any rate. At the very least it’s “substantially complete”, so that’s worth celebrating.

Project NEON was designed to alleviate traffic on the 15 Freeway, between the Spaghetti Bowl (of Southern Nevada) and Sahara Avenue. I had some involvement in this project, and I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out, on the balance.

Of note, an eminent domain case arising from this project lead to a published opinion from the Nevada Supreme Court clarifying certain aspects of condemnation, inverse condemnation and future damages jurisprudence in this state.

So to all the people of Clark County who lived through several years of heavy construction, congratulations on your new and improved freeway!
